Complete renovation of an old garden shed into an elegant vacation home

A house in the countryside in the Nuremberg metropolitan area that had been lying dormant for many years. It was purchased by a Nuremberg family to build their vacation home there. What was originally planned as a relatively minor renovation—the condition actually made a quite passable impression visually—ultimately turned into a complete renovation.

It turned out that the structural integrity of the house was in very poor condition and had to be completely recalculated. As a result, the shell construction also became significantly more complex. The situation was similar with the roof: the supposedly intact roof had severe leaks. Suddenly, we were faced with a comprehensive renovation—and at the same time with the opportunity to create something completely new and beautiful.

We decided to open up the ceilings on the ground floor up to the roof slopes and cover them with a acoustically effective natural wood paneling equip. The kitchen was designed as open-plan kitchen planned, but disappears completely from view in a copper-plated casing. The builders had a special request for a wellness area with sauna and a outdoor pool.

From a geometric point of view, the object was heavily loaded – it was lying on several left-turning water veins and exhibited further significant disruptions. We have also resolved these issues.

A sleepy house was transformed into a beautiful refuge for relaxation and recharging your batteries – for a young family with their two little twin girls and their dog.
